TYSON

Q & A with TYSON

Q: What is one goal you have for yourself in baseball?

A: A goal I have for baseball is to play in college and if the opportunity arises, play in the MLB. It takes a lot of work to achieve these goals but if I trust the process and work hard every single day, then I believe I can achieve my goals.

Q: What do you like to do when you're not playing baseball?

A: Off the field one of my favorite things to do is to sit back and relax on our families boat and enjoy nature. It helps me to unwind from the stresses that I have. I also love to spend time with friends and family, especially playing basketball and other sports. I love grinding in the weight room and pushing myself to the limit and feeling that satisfaction of completing the workout. My side hustle is teaching private baseball lessons to kids of all ages as well as umpiring little league. What I love about these jobs is that I feel like I am giving back just a little bit to my community.

Q: What's the dumbest thing you've heard from spectators in the stands?

A: Some of the things that bug me about parents in the stands is when they tell me the obvious. For example, when its a 3-2 count and they yell, "don't take a daddy hack". Obviously I'm not trying to take a daddy hack because I'm in my 2 strike approach.

Q: What is the best advice you've been given by a coach or mentor?

A: One of the things that I have been told by coaches is: "you never know who is watching." What this means is both on and off the field I represent my team, my family, and myself, and I need to remember who I am as person.

Q: What has baseball taught you that you can apply in life outside of athletics?

A: Baseball has taught me that failure is going to happen to you, it's how you bounce back, the type of attitude you have after failure that makes a difference. It's only failure if you don't learn from it.

LUCAS

Q & A with LUCAS

Q: What is one goal you have for yourself in baseball?

A: My goal is to get a little bit better everyday so that I can go to college and play baseball. If I keep getting better by putting in the work every day, now and through college, hopefully I will have a shot at the MLB.

Q: What do you like to do when you're not playing baseball?

A: I love to hang out with my friends and play basketball and whiffle ball. I really love to surf, if I can't be surfing in the ocean, I enjoy wake surfing behind the boat at the lake. I have learned to really like working out, it's fun to hit PR's and see progress and results and feel strong.

Q: What's the dumbest thing you've heard from spectators in the stands?

A: When parents yell at umpires for making bad calls. It doesn't change the umpires mind and they might make bad calls on purpose.

Q: What is the best advice you've been given by a coach or mentor?

A: If you start thinking too much in baseball and get in your head then things keep going bad. If you talk negatively to yourself, you're going to get negative results. You have to work hard outside of practice and be consistent in that work. Always practice with a purpose.

Q: What has baseball taught you that you can apply in life outside of athletics?

A:  Baseball is a game of faliure, if you miss a ball, just flush it and move on to the next one. Same with life, if you make a mistake flush it and move on.
